Our Name
The Holocene Epoch, the current geological era that began about 11,500 years ago, represents only a tiny fraction of the Earth’s 4.5-billion-year history. And yet this epoch comprises the development of the modern human species, its entire recorded history, the rise and fall of multiple civilizations and innumerable technological advancements. What has occurred in a flash of time is both awe-inspiring but also humbling when considered in the greater context.
